Owned by the Ananda Bazar Patrika Limited (an enterprise of Ananda Publishers), The Telegraph is a Kolkata based broadsheet English newspaper. In a brief period of around 25 years, The Telegraph has reached a position where it is now considered the largest circulated English daily in the eastern region of India. It is infact giving a tough competition to other newspapers of the market in the region. According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, the newspaper is the fastest growing daily (in terms of circulation) in eastern India.

Apart from Kolkata, The Telegraph is also published from Guwahati (covering the entire northeast), Siliguri (for Sikkim and North Bengal), Jamshedpur and Ranchi (for the state of Jharkhand). The newspaper offers elaborate national, international and business news together with other topics that are both interesting and significant.

Kolkata edition of The Telegraph carries an eight-page colour section called Metro devoted solely to the city of Kolkata and its people. Metro appears from Monday to Sunday, covers local news as well as the reports on the social and cultural events taking place across the city.

The Telegraph has also introduced a sixteen -page colour section called T2 that is primarily devoted to entertainment and lifestyle, which appears from Monday to Sunday.

History of The Telegraph
Established on 7th July, 1982, The Telegraph is one of the few English newspapers launched in post independent India. The paper has registered a great victory by being the only newspaper in post independent India to enhance its market share by pulling the readership away from the Statesman,the paper that dominated the market at that point of time.

The Telegraph Supplements
The Telegraph carries different supplements each week day. Daily supplements of The Telegraph include :

Know How (Monday) - An 8 page coloured tabloid on Science and Technology.

The Telegraph Jobs (Tuesday) - A tabloid on career and jobs openings. The Telegraph Jobs also carries information like how to approach interviews.

Telekids (Wednesday) - An interesting 8 page coloured tabloid for children.

Carrier Graph (Thursday) - An 8 page guide for students who lookout for jobs and career opportunities.

ETC (Friday) - An 8 page colour tabloid featuring entertainment, television and cinema news.

Weekend (Saturday) - A four pages colour supplement.

Propertt (Friday) - A coloured supplement on real estate and property.

Graphiti (Sunday) - A 32-page magazine all in colour, in addition there is four-page section called Look and a four page supplement called The Telegraph Classifieds.
